A WNBA player who is injured in the course of play or while training with their team may be entitled to valuable workers’ compensation benefits as provided by law. These benefits may include lump sum payments for permanent injuries, disability benefits and lifetime medical care. Therefore, if you sustain an injury, please call us as soon as possible.

Notice

A player who is injured must make sure that the team is aware of the injury. If the player does not tell the trainer or the team physician of their injury and it is not placed in their medical records, they may be prevented from obtaining benefits because of lack of notice to the team. You must give this notice to the team in a timely fashion (in most states, within thirty (30) days).

Claims

The Panel attorney will assist in ling your claim. A player does not have to pursue the claim while actively with the team, but by ling the claim, the player is prevented from losing their rights because they did not file within the statute of limitations. The statute of limitations varies from state to state, so it is important to contact the WNBPA and a Panel Attorney immediately after you sustain an injury.
